Police present N4.7 million cheques to families of eight slain officers in Kogi
Eight police officers who died while on duty in Kogi State have received N4,700,000.00 in checks from the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday night by SP William Ovye Aya, the public relations officer for the Kogi State Police.
According to Aya, the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Onuoha Bethrand, delivered the checks on behalf of the IGP.
According to Aya, the Commissioner’s representative and Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, ACP Rufus Odediran, said that the checks were a part of the IGP Welfare Insurance Scheme.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police thanked the Acting IGP for his kind act and urged the families to put the money to good use.
Aya said that the recipients thanked the acting IGP and the State Police Command for their cooperation and pledged to handle the funds wisely.
