Gov. Otu submits 26 commissioner nominees list to Cross River Assembly

The State House of Assembly has received a list of commissioners-nominees from Cross State Governor Bassey Edet Otu.

Dr. Stephen Odey, a former senator and representative for Cross River North, is in the nominees list submitted by the Governor.

The Cross River State House of Assembly will screen the 26 candidates today, Friday.

They include: Dr. Stephen Odey, Mr. Mike Odere, Dr. Justin Beshel, Mrs. Agnes Atsu, Mr. Oden Ewa, Mr. Patrick Egbede, Mrs. Beatrice Lgwe, Dr. Egbe Ayuk, Prince Eka Williams, and Mrs. Robert A. Ewa.

Others include: Chief Felix Idem, Pastor Ekpenyong Cobham, Ntufam Emmanuel Anum, Mrs. Gladys Eutendala, Dr. Hippolatus Ogar Lukpata, Hon Ankpo Pius, Barr. Odum Ijom Ukam, Hon Ankpo Pius, Mrs. Abigail Duke, Hon Lawrencia Ita, Mrs. Gladys Eutendala, and Hon Edema Erom.

Barr Mensah Bassey, Barr Ededem Ani, Bishop Margaret Ene-ita, Chief Francis Ekpenyong, and Dr. Mathias Unimke Angioha have all also been put forth for nomination.

Elvert Ayambem, the Speaker of the Assembly, has stated that Governor Bassey Otu has chosen candidates for the position of State commissioners that possess honesty.

The Assembly has received a list from the Governor comprising 26 names, the Speaker said in a statement to journalists on Thursday.

The Speaker remarked that the 26 nominees were distributed equally among the State’s 18 LGAs.

“The Governor carefully considered each nominee’s qualifications to make sure that they all fit like square pegs into square holes.

“I am relieved that the Governor sent the list within the allotted period. The nominees are respectable individuals, he continued.

Ayambem promised that they will thoroughly examine the nominees.

Additionally, he stressed that the House would effectively oversee MDAs to ensure accountability.

The House Committee on Judiciary is tasked with reviewing and filtering the list.
