Just In: NLC, TUC converge for emergency meeting over strike suspension

The halting of the strike action has prompted an urgent National Executive Council meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

This was revealed to Platinum Times Nigeria on Thursday morning by a trustworthy source present at the ongoing meeting in Abuja.

Due to their meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, he claims that Union leaders are already debating the idea of halting the strike.

“It would be premature to say that the strike has been put on hold. We’re getting together to talk about that possibility, he told our correspondent.

Details of the meeting would be revealed in a few hours, he said.

According to DAILY POST, NLC organized a national rally to push for the reinstatement of fuel subsidies and wage increases for workers.

As a result, organized labor’s top brass met with Tinubu at the Villa to put an end to further strikes.

Dele Alake, Tinubu’s spokesperson, promised to abide by the demands of the workforce in a statement on Wednesday night.

The NLC has previously planned a nationwide strike that would start on August 2, 2023.
