Just In: Senate submits list of screened Ministerial nominees to Presidency
The Senate has forwarded the Presidency the names of 45 confirmed nominees for ministerial positions.
According to Platinum Times Nigeria, the Senate on Monday confirmed 45 of the 48 cabinet nominees that President Bola Tinubu sent to the upper chamber.
Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, Stella Okotete, a resident of Delta State, and Abubakar Danladi, a resident of Taraba State, were the other three nominees who were not confirmed because security checks are still being conducted on them.
In an interview with journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Senator Abdullahi Gumel, the Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate), stated that the reason the number of ministerial nominees was increased from 42 under the previous administration to 48 is because some of the merged ministries will now function independently.
