Tension as gunmen storm monarch residence, set mansion, vehicles ablaze in Imo

Following the burning of HRH Eze Kanu Ikenolu, the traditional ruler of Ndia Iche Arondizuogu Community in Ideator North Local Government Area of Imo State, tension as grop residents as many fled their homes in search of safety.

The monarch’s family retreated into the bushes, which has spread terror across the neighborhood.

The assailants, according to information obtained by Platinum Times, detonated explosives inside the home as soon as they arrived, causing the building and any parked cars to catch fire.

Both the Monarch’s residence and his palace were impacted by the intense onslaught on the property.

Properties worth millions of Naira were burned by the arsonists, according to a local eyewitness who asked not to be named.

 

He decried the police’s inability to intervene.

He said:

“the palace of HRH Eze Ikenolu, the Eze of Ndia iche Arondizuogu has been invaded by the Unknown Gunmen and the people are in the bushes now.”

He regretted the failure of the Police to respond immediately adding that “until now no response from the police about the palace of HRH Eze Kanu in Ndianiche Arondizuogu, where cars, house and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

He said:

“Is Arondizuogu no longer part of Imo State?.”

When contacted, the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed the arson, saying frantic investigating efforts are on top gear to apprehend the arsonists and bring them to justice.
