Ado-Ekiti court remands two over alleged murder of sex worker
On Wednesday, the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered the remand of Saviour Daniel, 25, and David Isaiah, 25, in a correctional facility for alleged murder.
The defendants, whose addresses were unknown, are on trial for alleged murder and conspiracy.
The prosecution, Insp. Olubu Apata, informed the court that the defendants committed the offenses on February 4 at Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the defendants murdered one Comfort James, who was suspected of being a commercial sex worker.
Mr. Apata stated that the defendants visited a brothel and spotted the dead; “in the process, they negotiated, and she followed them to their house.”
“After that, she wanted her money, but they refused to pay her.
“They strangled her and poured pesticides into her mouth, which led to her death.”
According to him, the offense violates Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court to put the accused in a detention facility for legal guidance from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The defendants’ pleas were not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Kehinde Awosika, ordered that the accused be remanded in a detention facility for legal advice.
She postponed the case until March 21 for mention.
