Nurudeen Popoola, a squadron leader in the Nigerian Air Force, was kidnapped in December last year and has been released.

The media learned on Saturday that the Air Force officer is now receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital.

Popoola was kidnapped along with his wife, Ganiyat Olawale-Popoola, and one of their relatives, Abdulmumuny Folaranmi, at their home in National Eye Centre Quarters, Mando, Kaduna.

In February of this year, a family member appealed to the authorities to ensure the release of the kidnapped victims.

Platinum Times learnt that the Airforce officer has been released after an undisclosed amount of money was paid.

However, the kidnappers are yet to release the wife of the Airforce officer and the cousin.

”As much as we thank God Almighty and everyone that has supported this cause, for sparing our brother’s life and bringing him back home, we are still saddened that the wife and our son are still held in the Kaduna forest.

”Please help us continue to pray for the other two still in captivity so that they will be released without any conditions and in good condition,” he said.

Another indigene of Iseyin, who spoke with Platinum Times confirmed that the officer was released on Friday.

“He was released yesterday. He has been taken to a hospital. The bottom line is that he has been released. The wife and the boy who is a student have not been released. We are praying to God for their own release,” he said.
