The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recommended using force to resolve the Niger coup situation, although some Kano people have protested this idea.
On Thursday, ECOWAS ordered its member states’ armed forces to be ready to restore democracy in the neighboring West African country.
But during the rally, the demonstrators rejected the notion.
They chanted :
“Nigeriens are our brothers, Nigeriens are also our family. Niger is ours, we don’t want war, war against Niger is injustice, a plot by the western forces,” during a procession in the ancient city of Kano.
They displayed Nigeria and Niger’s flags, chanting anti-war songs.
