Anxiety as Nasarawa awaits Supreme Court judgement

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State are waiting for the Supreme Court’s decision after the appeal court sided with incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The APC in the state expressed alarm on Thursday over the PDP’s alleged plans to organize ugly protests, overheat the polity, and cause mayhem in the state.

The ruling party, according to the PDP, is haunted by its shadows.

The APC’s state chairman, Aliyu Bello, accused the PDP of encouraging ethnic and religious enmity through protests intended at causing discord among Nasarawa State inhabitants who had long coexisted as citizens.

He claimed that after Governor Sule was declared the winner of the March 18 election, the PDP has exhibited divisive tendencies by mobilizing stupid and weak supporters who parade naked in the street and at the party’s secretariat.

“The poor women recruited to engage in this shameful act have been paid and convinced, that such equally primitive action has the spiritual powers to earn the party victory at the courts.

“So far, the gods or the deities and the spirits the PDP has been invoking have failed them, and will further fail them again at the Supreme Court,” he said.
