Armed squad storm RSU hostel, rob, rape students
On Wednesday at midnight, armed thieves burst into a female dormitory at Rivers State University, robbing the residents and assaulting some of them sexually.
According to information obtained by Platinum Times, the thieves, who were armed with firearms and machetes, broke a wall to gain access to “Hostel D” by entering through the laundry area.
Numerous goods, including phones, computers, point-of-sale systems, and other items, were taken.
According to some accounts, two students were sexually assaulted, although Daily Post is unable to corroborate this exact figure.
On Thursday morning, female students on campus staged a protest, stating that nothing had been done to stop the incidents from happening in the past.
Acid Ebere, the school’s chief security officer, showed up at the scene of the demonstration to appeal to the students who were demonstrating and give them assurances that the problem would be resolved.
However, the CSO has not yet provided journalists with an official comment.
In the interim, rumors of an armed robbery at the RSU female hostel have been corroborated by the Rivers State Police Command.
According to a statement from the command’s public relations officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, Police Commissioner Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka has ordered the Area Commander in Port Harcourt and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Nkpolu to provide adequate security on the campus.
The CP advised pupils, parents, and the administration of the school to use the Police Control Room phone numbers of 08032003514 and 08098880134 to report any suspicious activity.
