Asset recovery panel calls for memoranda in Benue

The Assets Recovery committee that was recently inaugurated by the governor of Benue state, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has called on the members of the Public, Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Parastatals to submit memoranda to the committee.

A statement released by the Secretary of the committee, Barr. Terlumun Tombowua, says the memoranda to be submitted should be twelve hard copies and one soft copy, and must address the terms of reference given to the members of the committee by the governor.

He further urged the public to ensure that the memoranda contain the name, address and contact number of the sender and is addressed to the temporary office of the Benue state Assets Recovery Committee, located at Jonah Jang Lodge, Government House, Makurdi, not later than 72hours after the publication of the notice.

Recall that the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, had on the 22nd day of June, 2023, inaugurated a committee to recover all government Assets/Properties wrongly taken away by the members of the previous administration in the state.

The governor had charged the committee to ascertain government assets including lands, vehicles, houses and other machinery. The committee was equally tasked to determine all auctioned government assets from 1st March, 2023 to May 29, 2023, by various MDAs, without due process and recover those wrongly sold or taken away back to the government.
