Babcock Convocation: Twins graduate with first class, couple bag PhD

Babcock University (BU), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State produced 136 First-Class graduates during the 2022/2023 convocation, including a pair of twins.

The best graduating student overall was Ngozi Nancy Philip of the Faculty of Education, who earned a 4.95 CGPA. Her twin sister, Nnennaya Sylvia Philip, also made first class with a 4.80 CGPA.

Also receiving a PhD in nursing were Maitanmi Bukola Titilope and Maitanmi Julius Olatade.

2,065 graduates and 415 postgraduates came out of the school.

In his remarks, the university’s vice chancellor, prof. Ademola Tayo, called this year’s convocation special and praised the institution’s supporters for their “foresight and unwavering commitment” to the institution’s sustainability.

“This year’s graduation is unique in the sense that we have eminent personalities graduating from our postgraduate programmes. We have notable personalities such as a High Court Judge, Managing Directors of reputable organisations, Chief Medical Director of a University Teaching Hospital, Provosts of Colleges and Heads of Departments from various universities graduating today,” he noted.

He stated that another unique aspect of the graduation is the university’s first-ever PhD graduates in nursing, history, economics, and finance.

Dr. Chris Maiyaki, executive secretary of the National Universities Commission, praised academics and employees for their dedication to sharing knowledge and creating tomorrow’s leaders.

He claims that because it was among the first group of private institutions to be established, the institution has a special place in the hearts of the people.
