Bandits allegedly murder district head in Taraba

Suspected bandits assassinated another district chief, Ali Hakimi of Sarkin Kudu town in Taraba State’s Ibbi Local Government Area.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, about ten armed bandits forced their way into Hakimi’s palace and shot him dead.
The bandits also kidnapped other neighbors, causing panic in the rest of the community.
Local hunters, who have traditionally provided security, have been pushed thin in their efforts to protect the village, according to a source who spoke to DAILY POST on the phone.
Another community source, Bello Adamu, revealed that the dead was the brother of the Chief of the Sarkin Kudu chiefdom.
The perpetrators, he said, “escaped into the bush after killing the district head, and everyone in the area is living in fear because nobody knows the next target of the bandits.”
In addition to confirming the occurrence, the council chairman, Iliya Ajibu, stated that two people have been arrested in connection with it, and that an investigation is underway to apprehend those involved in the conduct.
When reached, Usman Abdullahi, the state police spokesperson, claimed he was in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital, for a program but promised to get back to our reporter as soon as he confirmed the occurrence.
