Bandits storm Taraba community, kill two famers in fresh attack

Two farmers were killed on their farmlands in the Yangtu Special Development Area in southern Taraba State, in yet another tragic turn of events.

The violent tragedy occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, sending shockwaves throughout the town.

Habila Timothy, a former representative of Ussa Local Government Area, verified the tragic news in a somber phone interview with Platinum Times.

The victims were on their way to their farmlands in Kwambai, a border settlement between the local government and the development area, when they were attacked.

“As I speak to you, my people are completely disorganized and lack direction.” “Women and children are crying, and night will soon fall,” Timothy mourned.

He emphasized the critical need for aid in restoring peace and expressed worries about the safety of evacuation routes.

Abdullahi Usman, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, told DAILY POST over the phone that the report had not yet reached the desk of the divisional police officer in Yangtu.

Nonetheless, he informed the public that steps are being taken to eliminate the threat posed by bandits in the state.

The unfortunate occurrence occurred only two days after the heinous murder of 11 farmers in the same state’s special development region.

According to community sources who talked with Platinum Times, the constant assaults have caused inhabitants to evacuate, leaving the impacted area desolate as farming activities, schools, and social interactions come to a standstill.

According to Platinum Times, some impacted individuals have sought refuge in temporary shelters in Yangtu Special Development Area, Ussa, and Takum local government regions.
