Bauchi govt begins construction of N10.3bn Ningi-Gudduba road

The construction of the 11-kilometer GSS Ningi-Gudduba road, a dual carriageway project estimated to cost more than N10 billion, has begun in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, according to Governor Bala Mohammed.

The project, which is seen as a return favor for the community, will help the state in the long run. It will have a 7.3-meter roadway and shoulders that are 2 meters wide. It is anticipated to be finished in 18 months.

After the project is finished, the dual carriageway will run between Ningi and Gudduba, opening up the area for Bauchi’s growth and development.

Speaking on Sunday in Ningi, the governor underlined his dedication to road construction, pointing out that roads play a vital role in economic activity.

Mohammed clarified that the location’s strategic significance—as a gateway to the economic hub of Kano and other northern regions of the nation—was taken into consideration when awarding the contract. He also said that the move would lessen the high frequency of accidents that cause property damage and fatalities.

According to him, the 30% mobilization fee has been paid, enabling the work to start.

Mohammed revealed that a group of engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works and the State Ministry of Works and Transportation would oversee the contract together.

The governor expressed regret that earlier administrations had denied the Ningi Emirate and the central zone access to a good road network, but he also noted that his administration was addressing disparities in terms of fostering inclusivity, engagement, and respect for the goals and desires of every segment of the state.

“There is so much neglect of the Ningi emirate and it is not that easy for one administration to address them, but I will try my best as the Turaki Ningi,” he observed.

“We therefore hit the ground running on day one of our first tenure by awarding road projects to several reputable road contractors.

“This particular one that we are doing in Ningi, is in recognition of what the people of Ningi have done to us as PDP, from myself the governor, you voted for me, voted for all those who contested under the PDP. All the elected offices in the Ningi emirate were given to the PDP. The only way to say thank you is the Dualization of Ningi town.”

In their separate remarks, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Works and Transport, and Representative of the contracting firm highlighted some components of the project including a 7.3-meter carriageway and 2-meter-wide shoulders.

The Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ibrahim Zubairu appreciated the governor for considering the long-awaited project in his rural and urban development initiative.

“This road project is a reciprocation of what you have done to us and we will continue to do it and take one aspect of what you need to the other.
