Benue APC stakeholders back Gov Allia, disown party officials

The Benue All Progressives Congress, APC, led by a former President of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute, has condemned the attacks on Governor Hyacinth Alia by Local Government Chairmen and the party’s State Chairman.

This was featured in a communique read by a Chief Ebute in Makurdi, in which they expressed their uttermost unhappiness with the wording of an APC LG chairmen’s communique and the toxic resolution of the party accusing Gov Hyacinth Alia of disrespecting party structures in the state.

The stakeholders expressed their displeasure in the communique with the actions of the local government party chairmen and the party executive committee, particularly their failure to explore all necessary avenues for proper engagements before resorting to unnecessary media outings, which they claimed had further escalated what could have been handled internally by the party.

They alluded to a social media communiqué issued by the APC local government chairmen, as well as the State Working Committee’s resolution on leadership, meetings, and party operations.

They claimed that this was an intentional attempt to divert Gov. Alia’s attention away from fulfilling his campaign pledges to the people.

The stakeholders remembered that, at Gov Alia’s request, many key and vital stakeholders’ meetings were convened, during which party elders and executives gave a vote of confidence in the governor and praised his inclusive leadership style.

They stated that it was because of these and other factors that they felt compelled to address the public and implore all concerned party members to refrain from further public outings and to halt any upcoming action that might further promote dissension in the party.

The stakeholders urged the party’s local government chairmen and state executive committee to refrain from taking any further action so that elders and significant stakeholders may delve into the subject and seek suitable answers to all issues.
