The Otukpo Area Police Command in Benue State has freed an alleged kidnapper who was captured by youths and vigilantes in the Oglewu District of Ohimini LGA.
According to the information so far received, the adolescents and neighborhood watchmen from Oglewu apprehended a man near Okwungaga Hill who admitted to being a kidnapper and volunteered to take the youths to a hiding place.
However, while the mob was still questioning him, he was saved and hauled away by the police.
The local youngsters have now started a protest, asking that the police give them access to the suspect.
They have blocked the Otukpo-Enugu Highway in Otukpo, demanding that the police free the kidnapper they have detained so that the jungle can avenge him.
Bun fires have been started around the neighborhood, and the busy roadway has been blocked off to traffic.
