Black Saturday: Three traditional rulers confirmed dead, nine others injured in road accident

The death on Friday of three monarchs from Oriire local government in Oyo state has sent the people of the area into grief.
The monarchs were killed in a car accident at Aje iye in the Oriire local government region involving a Benz E230 with the registration number OLODOGBO and a commercial Scania Truck with the registration number 301 XF.
Two of the affected monarchs died on the scene, and the third died a few hours later at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, where he was being treated.
The crash affected six people, but the three survivors are being treated at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
When the accident occurred, the passengers were on their way to a social function in the local hamlet.
According to reliable sources, the impacted monarchs are: OLODOGBO of Odogbo, Onibowula of Bowula, and Alayetoro of Ayetoro in the Oriire local government region.
Confirming the road mishaps, the Federal Road Safety Commission’s Sector Commander, Joshua Adekanye, said it was a head-on collision involving a private and commercial car on the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.
He stated that the survivors are being treated at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, while the bodies have been deposited at the same hospital’s morgue.
In another development, Adekanye revealed that nine of the thirteen people were burned to varying degrees when a DAF brand truck caught fire on the same day along the Ogbomoso-Oyo expressway.
He also stated that no lives were lost, but that the injured are being treated at the hospital.
