BREAKING: Bandits ambush travellers, kidnap nine, make N2.6m ransom demand in Kogi

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped nine travelers in Oshokoshoko, Kogi State, on the Kabba/Obajana/Lokoja Road.

The event was reported to have occurred last Saturday between 4 and 5 p.m.

Our correspondent learned that those taken were two students, three ladies, and four men.

The victims reportedly left the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Kabba.

Elupo Eliazer, a disabled person whose wife is one of the victims, stated that the kidnappers initially demanded N30 million but then dropped it to N2.6 million after negotiations.

“My wife and I were travelling to attend our church convention scheduled for Lokoja, but I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota could not contain all of us, else I would have been in the car with her,” he went on to say.

He stated that the vehicle his wife was in was ahead of the one he was in, but all the occupants of the vehicle had been led into the jungle by the time his vehicle arrived at the area.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, offered to find out and get back to them later.

He has failed to do so at the time of filing this report.
