BREAKING: El-Rufai announce withdrawal from ministerial list, nominates Jafaru Sani as replacement

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai decided against moving forward with his plan to become a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s government.

El-Rufai first stated during his confirmation hearing that he would be open to working with Mr. Tinubu on political issues.

El-Rufai, however, recently informed President Tinubu of his desire to renounce the position of a minister.

According to Platinum Times, he made a point of stating that as a private citizen, he was dedicated to helping Nigeria flourish.

El-Rufai spoke about his ongoing doctoral studies at a Dutch university as part of his justification.

In light of this, he proposed Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, a new candidate from Kaduna State, for the ministerial seat. El-Rufai gave the President his word that Sani’s knowledge and ingenuity may be very useful.

El-Rufai has proposed Jafaru Ibrahim Sani as a deserving candidate for the position.

Sani formerly held the position of commissioner in three important ministries (Local Government, Education, and Environment) during El-Rufai’s stint as governor.

Platinum Times Nigeria had reported that the ex governor was among the three ministerial nominees that failed screening by the Senate.

Its notable to recall that 45 out of 48 names sent by President Bola Tinubu to Senate for screening were confirmed.
