BREAKING: Ex-factional speaker Ehie withdraws lawsuit against 25 Rivers lawmakers

Edison Ehie, a former Rivers State House of Assembly member who represented Ahoada East Constituency II, has withdrawn his case citing contempt against 25 of the 27 lawmakers who defected from the PDP to the APC last year.
Ehie’s actions appear to have put a stop to the state’s political instability.
Ehie, a close supporter of state governor Siminalayi Fubara, declared 27 members’ seats vacant in December due to their transfer from the PDP to the APC.
However, two of the MPs ultimately rejoined the PDP, and Ehie led the group of five lawmakers loyal to the governor.
Fubara, on the other hand, has been embroiled in a contentious political battle with his predecessor, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Ehie had already filed a contempt lawsuit against 25 of them in Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt, questioning their meetings and legislative acts.

In an unusual twist, Ehie resigned from the House of Assembly after Governor Fubara and Wike reached a peace deal.
When the case came up for hearing of petitions before the court today, the claimant’s counsel, Mac-Barango Esq., informed the court of a Notice of Discontinuance submitted by his clients.
He asked the court to put the aforementioned Notice into effect.
Because the defendant’s lawyer did not object, the judge dismissed the request.
