BREAKING: Sokoto Police neutralise popular terrorist Mai Subu-Dubu, recover arms
The Sokoto State Police Command has neutralise alleged infamous bandit and kidnapping kingpin Bello Hantsi, also known as Mai Dubu-Dubu of Tungar Rana Village in Sokoto State.
Bello Mai Dubu- Dubu met his demise as a result of a coordinated assault by Anti-Kidnapping Unit agents working with DPO Kware Division, who deployed to find the suspect.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, February 18, by the command spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, and sent to reporters, the inquiry revealed the suspect as the mastermind and supply of weaponry and ammunition to five previously apprehended abduction suspects by the command.
He said the operation also resulted in the seizure of arms and ammunition, including three AK47 rifles and 90 rounds of live ammunition, while the suspects were en route to Tambuwal for a kidnapping mission.
The release said: “The anti-kidnap mobilised a coordinated a search of the suspect and on sighting the team and sensing danger at a nearby bush, head Dubu-Dubu fired a shot to escape arrest and a quick response from the team neutralized him while others flew with bullets wounds.”
However, Rufa’i explained that while scanning the scene, the body of one (1) suspected bandit, as well as one (1) Ak47 rifle with twenty-one (21) rounds of live ammunition, were recovered from the scene.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Hayatu Kaigama commended the resilience and bravery of the officers and men of the command for the coordination, professionalism, and tact to achieve the feat.
Kaigama appealed to the public in the state to not hesitate to avail the command and other security agencies in the state with timely information on suspected criminal activity.
He said:
“This will enable the command and other security agencies to take swift and decisive action against any recalcitrant criminal in the state.”
