(BREAKING)Plateau: Despite curfew in Mangu, Gunmen kill 30 in fresh attack

Gunmen invaded Kwahaslalek village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Wednesday, killing at least 30 people.

According to The Nation, Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang issued a 24-hour curfew in Mangu LGA on Tuesday.

According to reports, the victims, who were largely women and children, fled to the home of a community leader in the region on Tuesday night for refuge after an earlier riot in Mangu town, before being encircled and slain by gunmen.

Mark Haruna, a community leader in the area, verified on Wednesday the death toll in Jos, the state capital.

Haruna said,

“What happened at Sabon Gari and Mangu town yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) was just a distraction so that the attention of the people will be shifted away from the villages.

“For the second time, my village Kwahaslalek (behind NYSC camp) came under attack by gunmen yesterday (Tuesday)night. They came at about 12:30 am and killed over 25 people, mostly women and children.”
