Bye-election: Malle wins APC primary for Jalingo-Yorro-Zing federal constituency in Taraba
Aminu Ibrahim Malle has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Taraba State’s impending byelection in Jalingo-Yorro-Zing Federal Constituency.
Malle won 41 votes in the party’s primary, which took place over the weekend at Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, defeating his opponents Mohammed Alkali, Abdulmumini Hamza, and Bilyaminu Umar.
The bye-election was called owing to the sudden death of Ismaila Maihanci, who had won the seat for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general election.
Lawan Isma’ila, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, declared Malle the winner and commended the impartiality of the election.
He asked defeated candidates to join forces with the flag-bearer to defeat the PDP in the upcoming election on February 3.
Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, State Chairman of the APC, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to win the elections.
He urged the election umpire to create a level playing field for all candidates and parties.
Aaron Artimas, the APC Publicity Secretary in the State, praised the delegates for their mature behavior during the primary.
Artimas underlined that the primary election was overseen by the Electoral Committee designated by the National Secretariat, and that the party created a suitable environment free of intervention.
An APC stalwart, Alhaji Tukur Sambo Sintali, and a party member, Silas Gani, praised State Chairman El-Sudi for rejuvenating the party in Taraba State.
