Canada names Nigerian, Akinade Oduntan, as Business Ambassador

Mr Akinade Oduntan, a Nigerian-Canadian who serves as Special Assistant and Advisor to a Member of Parliament in the Canadian Parliament, has been named Mayor of Brampton’s Business Ambassador.

 

Oduntan, a notable leader in the Black Canadian community, has distinguished himself in a variety of community services throughout the years, earning him awards and recognition in Canada.

 

His latest appointment was approved by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, and the Nigerian-Canadian entrepreneur would be responsible for attracting investors, enterprises, and investment from African countries, as well as serving as a spokesperson.

 

Oduntan, also known as ‘Akin’, serves on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee in Brampton, Canada, and represents the Black community. He also serves on the Advisory Committee of Brampton Transit.

 

He is an active member of the Peel Police Chiefs Resource Council. He regularly participates in professional and community groups both within and outside of Canada.

 

He has received numerous awards for “Men of Excellence and Quality Men in Politics” from various Canadian groups. He worked as the Public Relations Officer for the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) Lagos State branch.

He is a well-known entrepreneur, leader, politician, mentor, motivator, and expert in health and safety management. He received a degree in Pharmacology/Physiology from one of Nigeria’s leading universities, the University of Lagos, and later got a Post-Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology in Canada.

 

With over 30 years of leadership experience, including 25 years in direct safety management practices, he was the Principal Consultant/CEO of Dattab Global International, Nigeria, a consulting firm that specializes in HSE and consults for international corporations in Nigeria.

 

Oduntan stated that the appointment would further encourage multi-bilateral economic relationships between Nigeria and Canada, as well as build inter-racial relationships.
