Habibu Haruna, 25, has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison by Jigawa State High Court No. 6, which sits in Birnin-Kudu, for raping a 14-year-old girl.
The defendant was brought before a higher court for bringing the girl to his wife’s chamber in Basirka, Gwaram Local Government Area, where he forced carnal knowledge of her.
The presiding court, Justice Musa Ubable, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
During the hearing stage of the case, the court heard five witnesses and the prosecution counsel presented three exhibits to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The prisoner was sentenced to life imprisonment under Section 3 Sub-Sections 2 and 4 of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, No. 2 Laws of Jigawa State, 2021.
