Decomposed bodies of missing police men discovered in Delta State Forest
A joint team of security personnel and local vigilantes discovered the decaying bodies of missing police officers purportedly slaughtered by herders in Delta state.
The incident occurred during a search and rescue operation for three missing police officers in the Ohoror hamlet, Ughelli North Local Government Area, in the state.
The missing cops had responded to Moses Progress’s distress call on January 24, 2024, when he was attacked by herders while performing a traditional sacrifice to the river gods beneath a bridge in the Ohoror village. The police policemen went missing after receiving a distress call.
On Sunday, a joint team of security personnel and vigilantes launched a search operation and discovered the suspected killer herdsmen’s operations huts.
Unfortunately, they uncovered the bodies of the missing police officers, bringing the total number of victims found in the Agadama bush to six.
The officers were slain, and the attackers allegedly grabbed their rifles and ammunition. The retrieved bodies have been placed in the morgue of Mariere Central Hospital in Ughelli.
A security source told Sahara Reporters that a manhunt has been begun to find the offenders, and negotiations are underway about how to deal with the issue of killer herders who have apparently taken over woodlands and bushes in Delta State.
