Delta guber: S’Court reserves judgment on appeals against Oborevwori’s election

On Tuesday, January 9, the Supreme Court reserved judgment on three distinct cases seeking to overturn Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s election in Delta state.

The appeals were filed in court by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the state’s governorship election on March 18, as well as candidates for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Kenneth Gbaji and Ken Pela.

The Lagos Court of Appeal upheld Sheriff Oborevwori’s election as Delta state governor, dismissing arguments from the governorship contenders and their parties.

Oborevwori received 360,234 votes, defeating his nearest opponent, Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Party, who received 240,229.

Ken Pela of the LP finished third with 48,027 votes, while Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance came in fourth with 11,021.
