DSS grills SDNON President, Otunba Femi Davies

Otunba Femi Davies, a seasoned media practitioner and adaptable professional, has been detained without contact by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abeokuta.

The DSS invited Otunba Davies, who is also the president of the Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria, SDNON, today beginning at 10 a.m. in conjunction with an ongoing investigation. A DSS officer named Officer Michael extended the invitation.

Otunba Davies complied with the lawful invitation and soon showed up at the DSS office in Abeokuta. To the surprise of his loved ones, coworkers, and companions, it has come to light that he has been kept incommunicado ever since his arrival. There have been countless attempts to locate him, but to no avail.

Note that Otunba Davies is a respected media professional rather than a politician. He shouldn’t be subjected to the shady politics used by people in authority who appear bent on conducting a witch hunt.

That no particular offense has been brought up against him is extremely perplexing. He was only invited in order to help the DSS with their ongoing inquiry. It is troubling, though, that despite providing aid, he is still being detained incommunicado without any apparent basis.

“We urge the authorities at the DSS in Abeokuta to ensure the immediate release of Otunba Femi Davies, as his continued detention is unjustifiable and a breach of his fundamental rights. We also call upon the relevant authorities to ensure transparency and adhere to due process throughout this investigation.

“Otunba Femi Davies is a respected figure within the media industry, known for his contributions and dedication. It is imperative that he is treated with the respect and fairness he deserves.

“We implore the DSS to swiftly resolve this matter and allow Otunba Femi Davies to return to his family and continue his valuable work in promoting the entertainment industry,” said Seunmanuel Faleye, secretary, of SDNON.
