Edo PDP break silence after regaining freedom from abductors

Tony Aziegbemi, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State branch, who was freed after being kidnapped for eleven days, says he is glad to be home.
Aziegbemi, a former representative of Esan Northeast/Esan Southeast constituency in the House of Representatives, said on the phone: “I am back home with my family. I am fine. I am just trying to rest. I am happy.”
Edo chairman of PDP, who is also an economist, was, however, silent on whether or not the demanded N500 million ransom was paid to the kidnappers before he regained his freedom.
Aziegbemi’s ally in PDP, Senator Odion Ugbesia, who earlier represented Edo Central Senatorial District, also confirmed the release of the state’s party chairman.
Edo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police (SP), had not responded, at press time, over the release of Aziegbemi.
Aziegbemi was kidnapped at 11 p.m., near his residence, off Country Home Road, Government Reservation Area (GRA) Benin, after attending a political meeting at Government House in the state capital.
