Eid-el-Kabir: 1,070 patrol vans, ambulances, bicycles deployed by FRSC

For the Eid-el-Adha celebration, the Federal Road Safety Corps Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, has ordered the mobilization of sufficient people and logistics to ensure the safety of all road users.

This was said in a statement released on Sunday and signed by Bisi Kazeem, the corps spokesperson.

The announcement states that the special patrol operations are expected to start on June 26 and terminate on July 1, 2023.

Around 750 patrol cars, 120 ambulances, 25 tow trucks, and more than 200 bikers would be on the road during the special operation, according to Biu.

Moreover, he demanded a “reduction in road traffic crashes, road traffic fatalities, and road traffic injuries in the special operations.”

He requested of FRSC officers “prompt response to road traffic crash victims, engagement of robust public education and enlightenment, and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways among others.”

The Corps Marshal urged drivers to obey traffic laws in order to avoid being pulled over and prosecuted by corps members as well as being victims of preventable traffic accidents.

The “Operatives pay first-rate focus on effective traffic control, wrongful overtaking, using a phone while driving, driving without a valid license, lane discipline, removal of rickety vehicles from the road, driving with expired/worn out tires, and driving without a spare tyre,” was another directive issued by Biu.
