Enugu residents storm streets to protest against site-at-home order in South East

On Monday, residents of Enugu State disobeyed the state’s customary sit-at-home edict.

Thousands of locals came out in opposition to the Monday sit-at-home directive.

“Enough is Enough” banners were held by the demonstrators as they marched through various streets.

Residents in the Southeast have been participating in a sit-at-home protest for the past two years, which was called for by a division of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

IPOB initially launched the sit-at-home movement to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader.

Simon Ekpa, meanwhile, is accused of using goons to wreak chaos in the area while pretending to enforce the order, hijacking the endeavor.

Due to the fact that few individuals leave their homes on Mondays and other specified days, the sit-at-home movement has negatively impacted the local economy.

Ekpa has issued a directive requiring Southeast residents to spend a week at home.

The Enugu State administration vowed to penalize everyone who participated in the sit-at-home day on Sunday.
