Enugu women offers N1 million bounty on Anambra woman over alleged brutalization of house help

Women from Enugu State’s Awgu Local Government Area have placed a N1 million bounty on Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, an Anambra woman who is accused of brutalizing her 11-year-old househelp.

The group, which operates under the umbrella of the Umuada Awgu Global Association (UAGA), has issued Okafor a 48-hour ultimatum to surrender herself to the authorities.

Chinemerem Anyi, the Founder and President of UAGA, declared a $1,000 prize for any informant on the location of the fleeing woman during the group’s news briefing on Thursday in Enugu.

She stated that anyone who provides good information to the police, the Anambra State Government, or other relevant authorities that could lead to the woman’s arrest will receive a N1 million reward from the group.

According to her, Okafor, who is from Anambra and lives in Onitsha, accused the victim of touching her eight-year-old daughter’s private parts while bathing her.

Anyi, who was flanked at the briefing by other members of the group, said “it beats our imagination that almost three weeks after the woman perpetrated the evil act, the police were still saying that she is still at large”.

She noted that the organisation was beginning to smell a rat, “going by the manner the matter was being handled by the Anambra Police Command”.

She said that the group also issued the police 48-hour ultimatum to apprehend the perpetrator or incur its wrath.

“The Awgu women have been resisting the temptation of taking the law into our hands over the matter as civilised people but we warn that such calm disposition should not be taken for granted or weakness.

“We are heartbroken over the barbaric act and today, we gathered for this important press briefing over the recent brutalisation of our daughter, Miss Happiness Nwafor, by her wicked madam,” she said.
