Fire consumes goods worth millions in Yola market
Certain portions of a popular Yola market have been completely engulfed by fire.
The market caught fire late Monday night while people were inside their homes, according to information obtained by Platinum Times Nigeria on Tuesday morning.
According to numerous sources, the fire damaged numerous establishments and destroyed commodities worth millions of Naira.
A nearby resident claimed that the market was rescued from total devastation by the firemen’ fast arrival.
The insider claimed that the market was prone to yearly fire outbreaks but was unsure of the exact cause.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said that the issue had been brought under control even though the State fire service had not yet commented on it.
He claimed that CP Afolabi Babatola, the commissioner of police, dispatched more men as soon as the State Police Command learned of the fire outbreak in order to stop looters.
“With the support of fire fighters, the situation was brought under control.
“Investigation has since begun to ascertain the cause of the fire for possible action,” Nguroje stated.
