Two internally displaced people (IDPs) were killed and over 1,000 dwellings were destroyed in a fire that raged through the Muna Alamdari IDP camp in Maiduguri.
The fire started at 6 a.m. and burned for more than an hour before it was put out by firefighters.
Dr. Barkindo Muhammad, Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency, stated on Wednesday in Maiduguri that the IDPs, Civilian Joint Task Force, security forces, and other good Samaritans also helped put out the fire.
Muhammad stated that the organization has begun an evaluation of the damages while also attempting to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the affected.
