Five Ministerial slot to Southeast: Ohanaeze vows to drag FG to Court
Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo elite socio-cultural group, has vowed to challenge the Federal Government for selecting only five ministers from the South-East.
The Ohaneze claimed that by awarding the South-East less ministerial jobs in the Federal Executive Council than other regions of the nation, the Federal Government had not been equitable to them.
This revelation was made by Iwuanyanwu during a news conference in the Imo capital of Owerri.
“It is unfair for the President to give the southeast only five slots for ministerial appointments while other zones boast of 10 ministers,” he said.
The leader of Ohanaeze characterized the conduct as unjust and against federal character ideals.
In an effort to level the playing field with other geopolitical zones in the nation, he also urged the federal government to establish more states in the Southeast.
He continued by saying that the South-East is experiencing severe underdevelopment and suffering as a result of the government’s incapacity to establish a new state.
