Flood: C’River govt issues warnings to residents as Cameroon opens Lagdo dam

The Government of Cross River State informed residents of the State that there may be flood due to increasing climate variability and the decision of Cameroon officials to open the Lagdo dam in days ahead due to continous rainfall in 2023.

This was revealed in a memo released on Monday, 28 August 2023.

The high risk areas listed are ; Calabar Municipality, Akpabuyo, Obubura, Bakassi, Ogoja, Biase, Etung, Odukpani, Ikom, Yakurr and Yala.

The Press Release stated that the Government was taking steps to curb this unpleasant event and asked that in eventual occurrence, residents should take precautionary measures.

The memo was signed by Chief (Mrs) Angela Ogeyi Odey the Director-General (DG) of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA)
