Four confirmed dead, others missing as boat capsizes in Nasarawa

At Hunki village in Awe LGA, a boat carrying farmers from Ubbe District in Nasarawa Eggon had a terrible accident while crossing a river.
The event occurred on Monday night when the farmers were leaving their rice farm.
Alkali Congo, Shedrack Dauda, Mashack Dauda, and Akolo Moses have been identified as the victims.
According to information obtained by Platinum Times, the deceased’s bodies have been returned to the hamlet so that their relatives can properly identify them.
Police Public Relations Officer, or PPRO, DSP Ramhan Nansel, verified the incident to Platinum Times on Tuesday afternoon.
Nansel reported that the boat’s driver was still missing but that four bodies had been recovered by nearby divers.
“Confirmed. It happened yesterday; the farmers were returning from the farm, and the boat capsized.
“With the support of local divers, four corpses were recovered, and one person was rescued.
“The person driving the boat is yet to be found and effort is ongoing to find him.
“The Acting Commissioner of Police sympathised with the families of the deceased and prayed to God to console them in a special way, ” Nansel said
