Four killed, 39 others injured as bandits attack FCT, Niger localities

Four individuals have been reportedly killed while 39 others were abducted as bloodthirsty bandits stormed Kuduru, the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and two communities in Niger State.

On Saturday, December 23, gunmen stormed the Garam hamlet, which is approximately a five-minute drive from Bwari, killing a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and kidnapping 13 other people.

On Thursday, December 28, bandits raided Kuduru, which borders Garam, and kidnapped 18 people.

Bandits also entered Azu on Friday, December 29, killing three individuals and capturing eight more.

Mrs. Juliana, a resident of Garam, said the bandits inquired for the house of their target the first time they arrived.

She stated, ”

“The bandits entered the wrong house, kidnapped two boys, and later led them to their target’s house.”

“When they got there, they kidnapped the entire family, but while leaving the house, they shot the man (their target), who is a pastor at the Redeemed Christians Church of God in the presence of his wife and their three children,” she went on to say.

When the wife realized she had left her six-month-old baby behind, she asked the bandits for permission to go carry the baby, and she was escorted back to the house by the lone female among the bandits.

When the female bandit’s patience ran out, she abandoned the woman, joined the others, and fled with the other 13 kidnapped people.”

The pastor’s wife, it was learned, is a teacher at one of Bwari’s government secondary schools.

According to another eyewitness, the bandits went to the home of a military soldier and demanded his rifle and uniform from his wife.

“The wife informed them that her husband is on call.” They, on the other hand, took two of his children.”

According to the eyewitness, 13 people were kidnapped, and a five-year-old youngster of the Redeemed pastor who was killed was abandoned by the robbers at the river’s edge because he couldn’t cross the river.

The vigilante who went on the hunt for the bandits allegedly rescued the youngster. (Source: The Guardian)
