Three High Court justices were sworn in on Wednesday by Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, who also promised that his administration would not meddle in the state’s judicial issues.
At the Government House in Makurdi, Alia also administered the oath of office and allegiance to one judge of the Customary Court of Appeal alongside the newly appointed judges.
Justice Mrs. Lillian Tsumba, Justice Patrick Ekah Oche, and Justice Peter Mvendaga Ukande were sworn in as judges of the High Court, and Justice Fidelis Vihiluntswen Iortyer was sworn in as a judge of the Customary Court of Appeal.
The governor emphasized the significance of the new judges’ appointment to the state, telling them not to take it for granted but to utilize it as a means of serving the state and its citizens. He gave them a warning that corruption had no place in the legal system.
