Gov Buni donates house, cash support to family of man crushed by military vehicle

Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, has given a house worth seven million Naira to the family of late Mohammed Ali, who was crushed by a mine-resistant truck belonging to the Nigerian Army in Damaturu last August.
On behalf of Governor Buni, and through the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II, Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Baba Gana Kyari, expressed condolences to the family and prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
Kyari encouraged the widow to take heart, emphasizing that the cash and other benefits were not given as a compensation for the loss of their husband, but as a consolation for their difficulty, which was exacerbated by the termination of petroleum subsidies in Nigeria.
Governor Buni also promised to fund the education of late Isa’s children as well as the nutrition of his pregnant wife.
In his remarks following the presentation of the donation to the youngsters, Damaturu’s Emir, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, stated that every live person is meant to die.
The Royal Father expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for the gift and prayed for the soul of the deceased.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdul-Salam (Rtd), and the Commanding Officer 233 Battalion, Lt. Col. G. Abdul, among others, attended the brief presentation ceremony at the Palace of the Emir of Damaturu.
His pregnant wife, four children, and a stepmother survived him.
The tragic event sparked outrage on social media, with Damaturu people demanding an investigation and compensation for the victim’s family.
Residents blamed the disaster on the soldiers’ alleged reckless driving and violation of traffic laws.
