(Gov. Fubara) Police break silence on Rivers State Assembly crises

The Nigerian Police Force has launched investigation into the recent crises rocking the Rivers State House of Assembly over the impeachment of the State Governor, Similaye Fubara.

According to Platinum Tines, Tear gas was being shot outside the Complex as the House members, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, served Fubara with an impeachment notice before running for cover.

Speaking to his supporters who had demonstrated outside the Assembly Complex against the move, the governor claimed he had done nothing to merit the Assembly’s impeachment process. This happened a few hours after the Assembly Complex caught fire on Sunday night.

The police reacted;

We’re aware of the security situation at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex. The Rivers State Police Command is actively addressing the matter. We’ve launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances and will take immediate actions against those responsible. Stay tuned for further updates. Your safety remains our priority. #RiversSecurity
