Gunmen abduct nursing mother, 14-year-old son, spare one-month-old infant in Zamfara

A nursing mother and her 14-year-old son were taken hostage by gunmen thought to be bandits in Zamfara State, but a one-month-old infant was left unharmed.
According to Platinum Times Nigeria, the incident happened a few days after the naming ceremony for the newborn child, who is now in the father’s custody.
They were kidnapped early on Tuesday morning at their home in Saminaka, a neighborhood on the Gusau-Sokoto route in Gusau, the state capital.
According to a witness, “the armed bandits broke down the wall of the victims’ apartment and forced their way inside,” according to DAILY POST.
They requested the husband, but when they did not receive him, the terrorists abducted the wife and her oldest boy and took them to an unidentified location.
The victim’s spouse teaches at the Federal College of Technology, FCET Gusau, according to information obtained by DAILY POST.
Two days prior, four female students from Zamfara State College of Arts and Science were kidnapped. The kidnappers posted a video of the captives and threatened to give them away in marriage if the ransom of 12,000,000 Naira was not paid within a week.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Yazid Abubakar was not returning calls as of the time this report was filed, therefore all attempts to get a response from him were unsuccessful.
