Gunmen attack POS Operators, kill two Policemen, two others in Imo
Platinum Times Nigeria reports that the incident took place near the Ohii intersection on the Owerri-Orlu Road.
Gunmen killed four individuals on Monday while attacking Point of Sale (POS) operators in Imo State, South East Nigeria.
According to Platinum Times, the incident occurred near Ohii Junction on the Owerri-Orlu Road.
Eyewitnesses reported that two of the victims were police officers on duty in the vicinity at the time of the horrific incident.
SaharaReporters saw a video of the tragedy on Monday evening, and it revealed the victims’ lifeless bodies.
Anyaeri Bright, a Facebook user who posted a video of the incident, confirmed that two police officers and two civilians were killed in the attack.
According to SaharaReporters, the fleeing gunmen opened fire at the junction, killing the victims.
The cause of the attack was unknown at the time of filing this report.
This comes as some point-of-sale workers were attacked and their money was stolen in portions of Owerri on Monday.
Another eyewitness, who simply gave his name as Iheanacho said
“earlier today, around 9am, some armed men in a Corolla vehicle attacked some POS shops and passersby just before Rapour junction, dispossessing them of cash and valuables.”
Another resident, Ikechukwu Eze disclosed thar some POS operators were robbed at Amawire – Orji on the Owerri – Okigwe Road.
Iheanacho also disclosed that around 8 am on Monday, some criminals stormed Christiana junction at Egbu Road and robbed POS operators.
When the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, was contacted on the incident, he said he had yet to be informed.
He promised to make inquiries and get back to SaharaReporters but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
