Gunmen kill GUO Motors driver, abduct all passengers from South-East enroute Lagos

The attack elicited strong reactions from Nigerians who held the same belief that if there is a law allowing locals to carry firearms, the kidnapping monster will undoubtedly be partnered up.

Gunmen suspected of kidnapping have reportedly seized GUO motors traveling to the South-East from Lagos State, South West Nigeria, and abducted all passengers.

The kidnappers reportedly killed the bus driver and abandoned a young girl after taking her parents and other passengers.

Although SaharaReporters were unable to determine the specific location of the alleged incident on Friday, voices in a video of the incident released by Senator Ned Nwoko on his X (previously Twitter) indicated that the vehicle was coming from Lagos.

In the footage obtained by SaharaReporters on Saturday, a voice remarked, “This bus is coming from Lagos. We stopped together in Akure and ate.”

Meanwhile, the Senator condemned the attack, citing it as one of the grounds for the self-defense bill he is pushing in the National Assembly.

Senator Nwoko, who voiced concern over how the security authorities handled the abduction threat, stated that if the driver or any of the passengers had a gun, the kidnappers would not have gotten away with it.

The attack has sparked outrage among Nigerians, who believe that if self-defense is legalized and residents are allowed to carry firearms, the abduction monster will undoubtedly be killed.

“In situations like this one where law enforcement wasn’t available, individuals including the driver and passengers should have the means to defend themselves from potential threats.

“Additionally, in some areas where kidnapping and robbery are regularly occurring, response times for emergency services is always lengthy, making self-defense a crucial aspect of personal safety.

“Furthermore, responsible gun ownership and training can empower individuals to be more capable of protecting themselves and others in dangerous situations. However, it is important to emphasize the need for strict regulations, background checks, and training to ensure that firearms are used responsibly and safely.

“I wish you lawmakers can at least do this for the defenceless citizens. Obviously you guys have security attached to your roles coupled with 160m SUVs purchased with our money.
“If kidnappers knows that there are NOT likely to succeed and return to their forests. They will STOP”

“Self defence is the most effective way of self preservation. Nigerians must be allowed to defend themselves. If the govt fails to adhere to this, dem go explain tire later!”

“It is evident that this incident happened a few minutes before the security personnel arrived. Why are they not going after the kidnappers?

“Why are they speaking to the girl and contaminating the crime scene? Why are men of the @PoliceNG so unprofessional in their conduct?”
