Gunmen who are thought to be kidnappers have killed a housewife and injured her husband in Jalingo, Taraba State
In a telephone interview with newsman, Taraba Police Command spokesman SP Usman Abdullahi revealed that the event took place early on Sunday morning in the Mile 6 neighborhood of the capital city of Jalingo.
He claimed that the assailants shot Mr. Balanko Alex Gamalia and his wife inside his home while trying to kidnap them.
He said that Mr. Balanko’s wife passed away instantly and that Mr. Balanko, who was injured, is now being treated at a hospital in Jalingo.
He claimed that a woman and two other people were kidnapped inside the home.
Adding that police were pursuing the kidnappers, Abdullahi pleaded with the public to help them by sharing information with the authorities so they could find out who was responsible.
The high crime rate in Taraba has alarmed the locals.
Before being let free, some Taraba residents who were kidnapped last week paid N7 million.
One of the victims described how they were tied and abused like slaves by their captors.
