How my Deputy rigged NYCN election – Gov Obaseki

Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has revealed how Philip Shaibu, his deputy, rigged the state National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) election in order to pursue his own ambitions for governor.
This was said by Obaseki over the weekend in Benin City at the Youth House during the International Youth Day celebration.
The emergence of the most recent officials of the NYCN chapter in Edo State was met with protests, according to Platinum Times. Following the demonstration, Governor Obaseki demanded that the executive council be dissolved and new elections be held.
During the celebration, Obaseki brought up the young Council controversy and said that Shaibu had been working behind the scenes to advance his desire through the young council.
“I want to apologise over the unfortunate incident that happened with the youth council election. It was done without my knowledge. As you can see, the reason why my deputy manipulated your election is because he has political ambition and thought he could use the council to achieve his political goals,” he said.
