#ImoDecides2023: LP, APC in words battle over alleged hijack of election materials to a private location

The Imo State Labour Party claims that election materials were hijacked and moved to a private property in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.

It further claimed that voting materials intended for the Okigwe LGA were stolen and brought to the Okigwe LGA headquarters.

The All Progressive Congress in Imo State, on the other hand, has dismissed this claim.

In a brief statement, Chibuikem, the Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, stated that the election materials were taken and diverted by thugs working for the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In Orlu, he said that the voting materials intended for seven wards were taken by APC members and diverted to the palace of the Amaifeke community’s Traditional Ruler, Emmanuel Okeke.

He said

“The report we are getting from the special assignment room is disturbing. In Orlu, a total of seven wards LG materials were hijacked and diverted to the Palace of Eze Imo which is also the Eze of Amaifeke.

“In Okigwe, all the election containers gathered at the stadium while election materials moved to the local government secretariat where no other agent is allowed in except APC.

When contacted, the traditional ruler debunked the allegation.

Also, the spokesperson for the APC in the state, Cajetan Duke, said that the APC in the state does not have the penchant to commit electoral crimes.
