Insecurity: IGP invites, Tactical Squad, Task Force commanders over, kidnappings, killings in FCT, others
In response to the recent spike in bandit kidnappings and murders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other regions of the nation, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun convened an important meeting with commanders of Police Tactical Squads and the Force Management Team.
The purpose of the gathering was to plan ways to stop the bandits from terrorizing different areas of the nation.
A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the IGP while expressing concern over the rising security problem in the nation, underscored the need for decisive action.
While reassuring Nigerians, particularly residents of the FCT of improved security, the IGP “ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Operations, to personally coordinate the upscaled security strategies emplaced to decimate kidnappers and other criminal elements in the FCT and immediately restore normalcy”.
The statement added that “during the meeting, which centred on a comprehensive review of current security challenges, strategic planning, and the deployment of tactical resources to tackle emerging threats, the IGP emphasised the need for a coordinated and intelligence-driven approach to address the evolving security landscape”.
