Internet Fraud: Shalipopi’s Manager, three others sentenced to prison in Kaduna
On Monday, Ajayi AbdulHafeez Ezekiel (as Kelvin Robert), manager of well-known TikTok musician Shalipopi, was found guilty and given a two-year sentence by Justice A.A. Isiaka of the Kaduna State High Court in Kaduna for impersonation and internet fraud.
According to Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law I, 2017, the offenses are illegal and punished.
The other prisoners are Repang Isaac Kwasau (also known as Luna Shop), Shereef Idowu Usman (also known as Marcus James), and Boaz Bondon Lally (also known as Boaz Jefferson Herron).
After information linked them to several shady internet-related operations, they were detained in a sting operation.
An investigation, according to a statement from the EFCC, showed that they used fake and real identities to rob victims of their hard-earned money.
The offenders entered guilty pleas to the charges after being arraigned. The prosecution’s attorney, E.K. Garba, urged the court to convict the defendants in line with this reasoning.
Following their conviction, Justice Isiaka sentenced them to two years in prison with the possibility of a N150,000 fine for each.
The court further mandated that the Federal Government of Nigeria be granted confiscation of both the tools of crime and the revenues of crime.
